NTT DoCoMo invest in a fuel cell company

Japan’s largest mobile phone company NTT DoCoMo is investing in a fuel cell company with the aim of selling handsets with longer-lasting hydrogen-powered batteries.

These batteries are environment friendly and might become a standard in the coming years.

NTT DoCoMo has confirmed that they will buy a 36.5 per cent stake in Aquafairy Co. through newly issued shares.

The two companies are already working together on developing a micro fuel cell recharger for DoCoMo’s latest handsets based on Aquafairy’s hydrogen fuel cell technology.

This deal would compliment an existing deal NTT DoCoMo has with Japanese electronics firm Fujitsu Ltd.
