Motorola hoping Mobile WiMax would become a huge success
US based tech firm Motorola is having high expectations from the under development Mobile WiMax standard.
Motorola Chief Technology Officer Padmasree Warrior said in a statement that they are hoping that this technology would someday become as popular as the GSM standard for mobile communications.
She said: “Downloading a song into a handset would take three seconds using WiMAX. The user experience is completely different to current technologies. Markets for WiMAX will open earlier than for Super-3G or 3G LTE, the extension for 3G technology.â€
She further said that rivals Nokia are also supporting this technology and this should help them promote the technology to become a global standard.
The company is also working on launching a GSM version of its Moto Q enterprise handset. Q is currently only available in CDMA technology version.
