3G services now becoming available in Indonesia
Indonesia has become the latest country to have started implementing 3G networks. Telkomsel, an associate company of Singapore Telecommunications has now started offering high-speed wireless service for mobile phones.
They have been testing this technology since sometime now and are ready to roll it for broader usage.
Telkomsel director for planning and development, Bambang Riadhy Oemar said in a statement: “We have built 300 base transceiver stations in Jakarta to provide 3G service.†They are promising access to high-speed Internet surfing, videos and music through this new service.
The company plans to invest around 326 million dollars to expand the availability of this service in Indonesia in the coming years. And they have already signed up as many as 60,000 customers.
