YouTube and MySpace under threat from Universal Music Group
Universal Music Group has announced that they are planning to go to courts to take up their issues with internet services including MySpace.com and YouTube.com.
Universal Music Group CEO Doug Morris said in a statement, that these two sites owe Universal tens of millions of dollars and that action to deal with the sites will be “revealed shortlyâ€.
He accused these two services of copyright infringement and said that they have been discussing these issues with YouTube since sometime with no results.
Universal is also talking with the owners of MySpace.com but not many details are available on these ongoing discussions.
YouTube.com has become the online destination to check out amateur videos created by its user community. However, people are also uploading copyrighted material, which is causing these potential legal headaches for their operators.
The service has noted that it will remove any content that infringes on copyright, but must receive a notice to do so.
