Hyundai aiming to launch a new small car in India next year
South Korean automaker Hyundai is a major player in the Indian automotive scene and they are aiming to expand their market share here by launching another new compact car by October next year.
This new car would be built at their upcoming new manufacturing facility being built next to Hyundai’s existing car plant outside the southern Indian city of Chennai.
This new plant would help the company expand their manufacturing capacity to around 600,000 units a year. Hyundai is in fact aiming to export around 300,000 cars from the new factory.
Company’s chairman and chief executive Chung said in a statement: “The Indian auto market has great potential and we are expecting more than 400 percent growth within the next decade.â€
Hyundai is already exporting to around 60 countries from their existing Indian unit.

From my research, I strongly feel that , this small new car is nothing but a Picanto Model car by Kia motor which Hyundai owns.
Everyone knows that, this new car to be launched is twin model of Santro and its 1.1 L CRDi having 75BHP power.
So whats the secret now ? Check out Kia Picanto, I feel every thing is just matching to what we know about new small car.
This might be new Small Diesel car to be launched by Hyundai in India in last quarter of 2007.
Small diesel cars would be(1.1 to 1.5L) be the biggest part of car market share in India.
But I am also, looking forward for face lift of Getz with CRDi.
It just make sense for Hyundai to have these TWO smaller CRDi engine cars(Getz and new small diesel car/Kia Picanto) to take on Swift DDiS(nothing but CRDi-common rail) or Fiat Punto or any challenge from any car makers in India.
If NOT,Hyundai would loose market share in Inida a BIG TIME.
