Microsoft to launch “Soapbox on MSN Video” service
Almost every other internet company is developing their own video service to take on the market leader YouTube.com.
The latest entrant in this market is none other than the software giants Microsoft. The company is planning to launch its own video service named “Soapbox on MSN Video”.
This service would allow web users to upload and view videos. They would also be able to rate or comment on them. And of course, sharing would be allowed through emails and code incorporation in blogs and websites.
YouTube is not the only player in this segment. MySpace, Yahoo!, Google and AOL already are present in this segment. There are many more smaller companies providing similar services.
Microsoft said that they would allow the users to expand videos to the full screen while they are playing, rather than having to jump back to the beginning and start over. This is one feature, which is missed on YouTube.com videos.
Let’s hope they are not going to use Windows Media format for broadcasting the videos on the net.
