Ask.com aims to increase its market share
Ask.com Internet search service is aiming to boost its market share in the search engine segment to 8 to 10 percent from a current level around 2 percent.
This was revealed by IAC Chief Executive Barry Diller who said in a statement: “I think the share we can get in pure search over time … is 8 to 10 percent. Little by little in this huge market of queries … we are making progress.”
He was speaking at the Goldman Sachs investor conference in New York. Diller added that Ask.com’s “pure search” share of the market was close to 2 percent. Additional services put the company’s market share at around 6%.
He further said that despite the popularity of Google in this space, there is enough space for competitors to grow.
