Windows XP Media Center PCs: It is the Microsoft’s way of integrating Television with computers. They along with other major PC manufacturers like Dell, Sony, and HP would start selling PCs with the latest edition of this new OS from Microsoft. They have already reportedly reduced the price for the operating system comprehensively to make it more lucrative to the masses.
MSN Music and PlayForSure: Microsoft enters the digital music selling market with the launch of MSN Music Service. They also started a new initiative called PlayForSure. MSN Music store is very much unlike other Microsoft services like Hotmail and MSN Groups. What we get is a very simplistic interface with all things accessible in a nice manner. Songs are priced at competitive 99 cents. The benefit over iTunes is of course flexibility of choosing the music player. It is where PlayForSure comes in. The logo works as a symbol of interoperability between music players, stores, and computers that support Microsoft’s software just like its operating system.
Microsoft’s Halo 2 leaked: It happened to Half Life 2 and now it has apparently happened with Microsoft. It was supposed to be launched on November 9 this year. The version leaked and is reportedly available on the newsgroups and websites is the French language version. The huge success that version 1 of Halo was good enough to make sure that people were eagerly waiting for this version.
MSN Messenger goodies might get paid add-ons: This is in rumors currently. Beta testers have reported that MSN Messenger would be coming with certain options that would only be available to paying customers. Emoticons, Backgrounds, and Display pictures are some of these options. Also mentioned in the reports is that Video Conferencing might also become a paid option. Removal of the advertisements also might be possible for a payment. AOL already does it and users do not like it. Let us see what happens when the final MSN Messenger 7 version is out.
