AOL reports gain after getting into the free service offering model
Time Warner Inc. has said in a statement that they are noticing improvement in their AOL division after they made most of its services for free. AOL is attracting new online customers and are also benefiting from cost cuts.
Jeffrey Bewkes, Time Warner’s chief operating officer claimed that almost 40 percent of new users were not former subscribers. He said: “That means there is demand for AOL beyond the existing baseâ€.
In fact, the company is getting more than estimated new users for their freely offered services. This would help the company take on rivals including Microsoft, Yahoo! and of course Google.
AOL also said that they are happy about their advertising sales, which is now their prime source of revenues for their online services.
