Rumor: Yahoo! interested in acquiring Facebook.com
The Wall Street Journal has said in a report that search engine company and internet giants Yahoo! is talking with the owners of social networking portal Facebook.com for a possible acquisition deal.
This deal could be worth as much as USD 1 billion. As per available information, Facebook.com has also had talks for a similar deal with software major and rivals of Yahoo!, Microsoft.
A couple of months ago, a report in the media claimed that Facebook.com rejected a deal worth $750 million and was aiming for a price point of USD 2 billion. Big amount indeed.
The website currently is locked for U.S. college students and had recently unveiled plans to open itself to a broader internet audience.
Yahoo! had been acquiring internet startups since sometime and now has Flickr and del.icio.us.
