iSuppli claims new Apple iPod nano now cheaper to manufacture for the company
Apple Computer just recently overhauled their entire lineup of iPod digital music players. This range included the second-generation Apple iPod nano.
Market researcher iSuppli has come out with their findings on this digital music player and they are claiming that the company is now saving more on manufacturing iPod nano.
As per available information from the company, the new iPod nano costs almost $18 less to make than the previous version. The company has managed to reduce the cost of materials for the 4GB Nano to $72.24 from $89.97 for the previous 2GB device.
One of the major changes in this update is the replacement of the semi-custom PP5021 SoC from PortalPlayer with Samsung Electronics’ system-on-chip.
