Wal-Mart denies they threatened movie studios not to deal with Apple Computer

Retailing giants Wal-Mart has denied that they are threatening the movie stores to not collaborate with Apple Computer to sell movies on the Apple iTunes store.

A report in the New York Times claimed that the company has warned Hollywood it may retaliate against studios for selling movies on iTunes.

The report claimed that Wal-Mart is afraid that such a move could challenge their domination in the DVD sales market.

A company spokesperson said in a statement: “The Post story appears to be a rehashing of the misinformation that’s been printed previously. Customers want to watch movies and they want to be able to make the choice when and how they want to view them. While we recognize there are various current and potential providers of this service, we are not dissuading studios from conducting business with other providers.”

Apple already has launched its movie download service on Apple iTunes and is currently offering content from Disney.
