Agere Systems develops a cheaper mobile chip for digital music playing capability
Agere Systems has said in a statement that they have now developed a low cost cell phone chip, which could result in development of low cost mobile phones with music playing capabilities.
This could give a huge boost to their technology partner Samsung which are one of the major mobile phone makers in the Asian market.
The company said that their chip supports music players with compact disc quality sound in phones. The cost of these components is as little as USD 30 compared to around USD 100 for current generation phones supporting digital music playing capabilities.
Market analysts believe that Samsung would soon start using these chips in their mobile phone products and would give them an edge in markets like China and India.
