Coke vending machines in Japan to accept mobile payments
US based soft drink giant Coca Cola has said in a statement that they aim to equip all their vending machines in the Japanese market to support mobile payments.
Making payments using a mobile phone is increasingly becoming a popular mode of payment in this region and coke wants to make their vending machines more user friendly.
The company said that all of its 200,000 machines by the end of 2008 would accept Felicia. Felicia is a contact less credit cards on mobile phones developed by cellular industry leader NTT DoCoMo and Sony.
Users would be able to buy any of the offered products from these vending machines by holding up a mobile to the machine. The cost of the drink would be added in their mobile bills.
