Intel Quad Core processors coming in November
Microprocessor industry giants Intel have said that they are planning to launch their first quad-core processors for high-performance PCs and servers in November.
If the company manages to deliver on this promise, they should get an edge over their small rivals AMD who are also on course to launch their Quad Core processors.
Intel claims that these new processors would deliver the power needed to handle high-definition video, cutting-edge games, and math-intensive number crunching.
The initial processors would be aimed at gamers and content creators and these products would be called Core 2 Extreme Quad-Core. Intel claims that these new processors will boost machine performance by some 70 percent over the current Core 2 Extreme processor.
Intel would follow up these products with a mainstream processor called the Core 2 Quad next year.
For the server market, they would be launching a quad-core Xeon 5300 series this year.
