Sony Reader Portable Reader: Sony plans an e-book reader supported with a web based bookstore
Consumer electronics giant Sony has announced that they would soon launch an e-book reader and would complement this product with an online book store.
The original plans to launch this product was in spring but the product was somewhat delayed.
Sony plans to carry around 10,000 books from the top six publishers on their Sony Connect web store. Some of the publishers include HarperCollins and Simon & Schuster.
Sony would be launching the device named ‘Sony Reader Portable Reader’, which would be available in the retail stores for around $350. They also are planning to offer a $50 credit to buy books from the service to early customers.
The company claims that the e-book versions would be around 25% cheaper than their regular version.
