New wireless technologies to come to Intel Centrino platform
Microprocessor giant Intel has said in a statement that they would soon add several broadband options to its Centrino platform.
This would include support for 802.11n Wi-Fi, HSDPA wireless broadband, and WiMax. This would add support for short, medium, and long-range connectivity options for the users.
The company also announced an 802.11n interoperability program to help make it a popular standard for mobile communication.
Intel would also be working with Nokia to provide HSDPA modules to its Centrino platform. They are also going to provide WiMax mobile cards to notebook users in 2006. The technology would be integrated in the Centrino platform eventually.
The company is already due to introduce a new mobile processor in the first half of 2007.
