Microsoft to power BBC’s future services

BBC (British Broadcasting Corporation) has revealed that they are collaborating with software giants Microsoft to develop their next generation internet services.

This non-exclusive memorandum of understanding was signed on between BBC chief Mark Thompson and Microsoft Chairman Bill Gates in Seattle on Wednesday.

The two companies would now work together on studying the archives available with BBC and develop newer ways to make it available to the web users though a re-invented BBC Web site in the form of Web 2.0.

Gates said on this new development: “Microsoft’s strength is in driving digital innovation and our vision is to open up rich, new consumer experiences that allow people to enjoy digital content anytime, anywhere and on any device. This vision fits squarely with the BBC’s charter to lead the industry in delivering content that is compelling and accessible.”

Let’s just hope that the new BBC website would work in Mozilla Firefox and Opera browser.
