Honda to expand production capacities in Britain
Japanese automaker Honda has said that they would create 700 new jobs and step up production at one of its British plants.
Honda is noticing increasing demand for their Honda Civic model and they would now increase the size of its staff at the company\’s Swindon plant to 4,900.
The sales of this car are up 30 percent compared with the same period a year ago in the first eight months of the current year.
They are already scheduled to boost the production of this plant by 60,000 cars per year by next year. This factory would also be manufacturing the recently updated CR-V sport utility vehicle.
Honda President and CEO Takeo Fukui said in a statement: \”We plan to increase output of both the CR-V and the Civic at our Swindon plant starting next spring, taking the Swindon up to its full capacity of 250,000 units on a yearly basis within 2007.â€
