Nokia collaborates with Trimble Navigation
World’s leading manufacturer of mobile phones Nokia is collaborating in a patent-licensing deal with technology firm Trimble Navigation.
The two companies now plan to work together to target the fast-growing mobile navigation market.
As part of the deal, Nokia would now have exclusive rights to use Trimble\’s patents in wireless consumer products and services.
They can also now sub-license rights to the Trimble patents to others. The company holds around 700 patents in technology that pinpoints users\’ locations and Nokia is very optimistic about results from this deal.
Waldemar Sakalus, director of business development at Nokia\’s Mobile Phones unit said in a statement on this deal: \”In terms of absolute numbers it is not very, very big, but in the case of a special field it is very, very substantial.â€
The company just recently introduced their latest N-Series mobile phone named N95, which comes with GPS positioning technology and free maps.
