Cingular using Melodeo technology to offer podcasts
US based mobile service provider Cingular has said that they are now offering Podcasting services to their customers using technology supplied by Melodeo Inc.
This service would be offered to their customers for USD 4.99 per month. The company is offering a new application named Mobilcast, which would offer a catalog of select podcasts, updated hourly.
Don Davidge, senior vice president of sales for Melodeo spoke on their services: “We typically have about 150-200 podcast shows and if the user is interested in finding content that they don’t see in the catalog, there are ways to ask for more content or do a keyword search.â€
They are already providing similar services to Rogers Wireless in Canada and Alltel in the U.S.
This service can be used on any mobile phone with Java MIDP 2.0 capability.
