MobileMax: Seagate launches a new range of Maxtor Drives
Seagate is the market leader in the storage media market and they have just completed their acquisition of their rivals Maxtor.
The company has now announced the launch of its new MobileMax 2.5-inch disc drive. Seagate launched both a higher-end version of its DiamondMax 3.5-inch hard driveline, as well as the MobileMax drives.
DiamondMax range of hard disks would offer storage capacities of up to 320 GB while the MobileMax drives would provide solutions upwards to 80 GB.
Seagate is hoping that they would manage to gain the 10 to 14 percent market share earlier owned by Maxtor to their own market share increasing their lead over their nearest rival Western Digital.
March Jourlait, Seagate’s vice president of segment marketing said in a statement on their plans: “People want choice; people don’t care if it comes from a single vendor. Maxtor is preferred by customers in their low twenties and late teens, and resonates will with different sets of customers.”
