Amazon A9 loses some innovative features in latest update
In a surprising move, Amazon has removed some of the most impressive features from their A9 search engine.
The search engine no longer has the ability to remember everything a user has ever searched for. In addition, A9 now no longer offer a service that showed detailed, street-level images of major cities.
Amazon said that they are now focusing on features, which are more relevant to the customers. They had invested considerably in the feature providing detailed, street-level photos of 20 U.S. cities but have not revealed what they would do with that investment.
The company is also surprisingly discontinuing a toolbar that helped keep track of such information.
One new feature added to A9 is the ability to display search results as a continuous list. This is similar to Windows Live Search, which now powers the A9 search engine. They were using Google technology earlier.
