Intel upgrade its Centrino Laptop Package
Intel released a new faster Pentium M processor giving its Centrino Laptop Package an upgrade. The package includes the processor, a chipset, and a wireless LAN chipset. The new processor is named Pentium M 765 and has a clock speed of 2.1GHZ. It also has 2 Megs of Level2 Cache and supports 400MHz front side bus. These processors also incorporates the Intel’s power-saving technologies to extend battery life which are essential for mobile processors.
As per PC World, the processor is priced at around USD 637 in 1000 units quantities. This new release came as a follow-up to a price cut Intel announced in the mobile processors recently. This would certainly come as a relief to Intel who are in the news for all the bad reasons.
They had to first cancel their Pentium4 4GHz processor and AMD added to their misery with the launch of their new 64-bit processors.
