Wal-Mart shuts down its social networking site The Hub
Retailing giant Wal-Mart is the latest victim of the success of the online social networking portal MySpace.com.
The company has now shut down their own social networking site named The Hub.
The visitors to this online destination were greeted with the message saying: “Sorry, but the School Your Way promotion has ended. You will be redirected to Walmart.com where you can always find the hottest fashions, music, and more all year long.”
Wal-Mart had launched this site in July hoping that they would garner some users away from MySpace.com but apparently, they failed to put a dent in competing service’s user base.
Online reports also claimed that most of the users on the site were representatives of the company promoting their own cause. Interestingly, Wal-Mart now has established their own Space at MySpace.com.
