Yahoo! testing Mobile Search Advertising
Search Engine Company Yahoo! has begun testing out mobile platform based advertising. These would be linked to their mobile search in the United States and the United Kingdom.
This would give the company an early bird advantage on their rivals Google and Microsoft, which are also developing ways to generate revenues on the mobile platform.
Advertising on the mobile platform would be similar to their advertising on the PC platform. Ads would be based on the content being searched by the user on their small screen devices.
This platform is current in beta testing phase and would be offered to a select group of advertisers before being made generally available.
Steve Boom, senior vice president of mobile and broadband for Yahoo said in a statement on this development: “Our test deployments have been very successful, with strong advertiser demand and consumer engagement, which makes us very excited to bring our sponsored search listings to an even wider audience.â€
