Best Buy Digital Music Store to take on Apple iTunes

Apple is the market leader in the sales of digital music. A lot of rivals have emerged in the recent years but none of them has managed to put any dent in their sales.

The latest entrant in this field is Best Buy, which is launching their own digital music store named Best Buy Digital Music Store.

They are launching this service in collaboration with RealNetworks and SanDisk and this service would allow customers to find, manage, and purchase music online.

Best Buy Digital Music Store would be powered by RealNetworks’ Rhapsody 4.0 music service and it would promote SanDisk Sansa e200R Rhapsody MP3 players.

This new service is scheduled for launch on October 15.

Songs on this service would cost 99 cents and a monthly subscription can be purchased for just around USD 15.

Microsoft too is scheduled to enter this market with their own digital music and video player Zune along with a music service in November this year.
