NEC Electronics to ship a chip compatible with both Blu-ray and HD DVD formats
Japanese tech giant NEC Electronics has said that they are now shipping a chip compatible with both Blu-ray and HD DVD formats.
This could potentially result in products, which would support both the formats helping out the confused consumers in the market.
This NEC chip is available for sale for 10,000 yen ($84). This is not much expensive when compared to the chips available in the market compatible with one of these two formats.
They are aiming at monthly shipments of 300,000 during the business year starting April 2007.
