Nokia WiMax phones coming in 2008
World’s largest maker of mobile phones Nokia has said that they aim to launch their WiMax technology based mobile phones in 2 years.
The company also unveiled their networking technology for this wireless platform. As of now, the technology only supports devices, which are stationary. However, a new mobile version of WiMax will be available this year.
Intel, Nokia, Samsung and Motorola are some of the big names supporting this technology to power the next generation of wireless devices. Nokia itself said in a statement: “WiMax-capable Nokia mobile devices are expected to be available in 2008.”
The company added that its WiMax base stations would be commercially available for broadband operators in the 2.5 gigahertz band at the end of 2007.
