Sony working on a video version of Walkman digital player
Japanese tech giant Sony has said in a statement that they are currently working on launching a video capable version of their Walkman branded digital music player.
This would help them take on the Apple iPod Video player and other players in the market. Software giant Microsoft also is entering this segment with the launch of Zune player.
Sony was once the leader in portable music player market with their Walkman player. However, times have changed and now Apple Computer dominates this market.
Sony Senior Vice President Hiroshi Yoshioka said in a statement on these plans: “We are developing a product that handles images, but I cannot make any comment on specific plans.”
The company is due to launch their Playstation 3 gaming console in the market next month. And they are also planning to launch a couple of new Sony Walkman digital music players for the upcoming holiday season.
