BT launches its own ’spam buster’ system to counter email spam
BT has announced that they are going to use Content Forensics from StreamShield Networks to launch their own ’spam buster’ system.
This system would be used to counter the ever-growing spam mails sent to their users. BT claims that this system would locate and combat professional spammers and infected spamming computers on the BT broadband network.
This new system would scan millions of emails daily and would provide the company detailed reports on the location and size of spam-related problems originating from the BT network.
They would then take actions against the professional spammers. This would include terminating rogue accounts and adding offending IP addresses to industry-wide blacklists.
Stratis Scleparis, CTO at BT Retail spoke on this new initiative: “In a world-first, we’re turning the tables on professional spammers and cutting off this scourge of the internet at source. We are delighted to work with StreamShield Networks on this innovative approach which both tracks down and reduces spam messages on our network, and at the same time helps our customers overcome the threat of infection by bots.”
