Yahoo! enhances its arsenal to take on Google
Stata Labs is the latest weapon in Yahoo’s arsenal to take on Google’s domination in the Search Engine market. Yahoo! bought this software company, which specializes in technology that enables users to search through their mails and attachments more powerfully. Google has ignited the webmail market with its new offering GMail sometime back that has excellent tools to handle large quantities of mails with Google’s technology of searching.
Stata Labs are the makers of email client Bloomba that managed user emails in efficient manners with tools to search mails and generating views. The small profile of the company meant, it never reached mainstream popularity. Yahoo is not planning to offer the company’s products anymore but instead using its expertise in mail management.
This is the second email company Yahoo! has purchased this year alone after Oddpost. All these efforts seem to be in the direction of improving Yahoo’s own toolkit for mail management to entice users away from Google’s Mail Solution. Yahoo! must be really feeling the heat with Google’s launch of beta versions of GMail and Desktop Search software.
