Apple accidentally shipped some iPod Video units with RavMonE.exe virus
Apple and computer viruses. Does not make sense. However, considering Apple iPod does support the Windows OS platform, there is still a possibility!
Apple has said in a statement that some video iPods that shipped after September 12, 2006 contained a known Windows virus RavMonE.exe.
They have not disclosed the number of affected units but claim that the virus might have been shipped in less than 1% of total shipped units.
Greg Joswiak, Apple’s vice president of Worldwide iPod Marketing said in a statement: “So far we have seen less than 25 reports — it may be far less than one percent. The iPod nano and Shuffle are not affected.”
The company recommends that any Windows OS user who bought an Apple iPod Video recently should scan it with an updated antivirus utility. The problem does not affect Macintosh users as expected.
