MTV and Baidu collaborates on online distribution of videos
MTV and search engine Baidu.com are collaborating to distribute videos on the internet. MTV would use this new venture to distribute music videos via the Internet in China.
This is expected to boost the channel’s reach in this country, which is currently the second biggest internet market in the world.
The two companies would soon make available 15,000 videos and MTV programs. Some of these would be charged while the others would be made available free of cost.
MTV also plans to distribute content from sister network Nickelodeon through this initiative.
Baidu.com is currently the most used web search engine service in china and faces massive competition from Google. Such deals would help them to keep an edge over Google, which recently acquired video sharing service YouTube.com.
