YouTube.com cleans up Japanese copyrighted videos
Leaders in the online video sharing service YouTube.com has removed around nearly 30,000 videos from their database, which included copyrighted content as claimed by the Japan’s entertainment industry.
These videos were reported to the company by the Japan Society for Rights of Authors, Composers and Publishers. This organization has also asked YouTube.com to put filters in place, and take other steps to ensure that unauthorized content doesn’t appear on the site in the future.
The Japan Society for Rights of Authors, Composers and Publishers represents 23 media companies which include movie studios and television companies in Japan.
Google recently announced their decision to acquire YouTube.com and they are now considering putting technology in place to detect uploading of copyrighted content on their servers.
