3Com launches the 3108 Wireless Phone
3Com has launched a new VoIP enabled wireless handset named 3Com 3108. the company claims that this product would help users to make Internet calls through wireless networks.
The 3Com 3108 works on the 802.11b/g wireless and the Session Initiation Protocol technology to enable this capability. It comes loaded with all the usual features of a standard cell phone, including address book, call log, speed dialing, and ring tones.
Users can configure the settings on the phone directly or by connecting it to a personal computer. The phone uses WPA2 security and AES encryption for privacy.
The company claims that owners of this phone would be able to make VoIP calls from anywhere as long as they are in the range of a wireless hotspot.
3Com 3108 is the first phone in the market to use the Session Initiation Protocol. It is available for sale in the market for $415.
