Christer Fuglesang to become the first Swede to go to space
The European Space Agency has said in a statement that astronaut Christer Fuglesang of Sweden will soon become the first citizen of a Nordic nation to go into space.
Fuglesang would be aboard Space Shuttle Discovery when it lifts off early next month on its mission to the International Space Station.
He is already undergoing training at the NASA’s Johnson Space Center in Houston.
ESA further said that the STS-116 mission would mark the start of a series of complex missions to complete the space station’s construction.
Fuglesang and his NASA counterpart, astronaut Robert Curbeam would be conducting two spacewalks on this mission.
