Daihatsu planning to enter India with their small car products

Japanese small car company Daihatsu is currently working on plans to enter into the Indian market. This would further expand the competition in the compact car segment in India which is currently dominated by Maruti Suzuki.

Daihatsu is expected to enter in India in collaboration with its parent company Toyota Motor Corp which already has an established base here.

Market sources claim that the two companies would jointly develop a new vehicle with the capacity of a 1 liter engine. This vehicle might also be exported to other world markets including Central and South America and in Europe.

Daihatsu Motor Co president Teruyuki Minoura spoke on their plans for India: “We don’t have the experience for this kind of challenge, and we need to carefully map out a strategy to face the severe competition there.”
