JupiterResearch believes Apple iPod would continue to dominate in the near future

Market research firm JupiterResearch has said in a report that Apple Computer is likely to dominate the digital music player market with their iPod range of music players in the next 12 to 18 months.

Apple is likely to face tremendous challenge from the upcoming Zune digital music player from Microsoft.

Microsoft would be launching the Zune sometime next month along with its own digital music and video download service.

Apple iPod currently accounts for more than three quarters of portable music players sold and it continues to remain the dominating player in this market.

JupiterResearch analyst Michael Gartenberg said in a statement: “It’s Apple’s game to lose. But there will be constant pressure on Apple to innovate and refresh the product line to continue capturing the hearts and minds of consumers.”
