Nokia 330: Nokia enters the car navigation market
World’s largest mobile phone maker Nokia is the latest player to enter the booming car-navigation market.
The company launched its Nokia 330 Auto Navigation device with preinstalled Europe-wide map data from Dutch navigation firm Route 66.
This device would use data supplied by U.S.-based NAVTEQ. Interestingly, Nokia uses data from its main Dutch rival, Tele Atlas for their new Nokia N95 phone which doubles as a navigation device.
Nokia 330 is also capable of playing music and displaying photos and videos. However, it does not work as a mobile phone instrument.
Nokia 330 is expected to be available in Europe during the fourth quarter of 2006. It would retail for around 360 euros ($456) excluding taxes.
