MySpace.com to block uploads of copyrighted digital content on their service

World’s most popular social networking web portal MySpace.com has said that it had licensed a new technology to stop users from posting unauthorized copyrighted music on their servers.

The company added that they also block users who violate this policy frequently. They have licensed this technology from privately-held Gracenote. This would allow them to review music recordings uploaded by community members to their profiles.

The portal is soon expected to begin selling songs from nearly 3 million unsigned bands. It also aims to sell music from popular bands and musicians in the coming months.

MySpace said that once Gracenote’s technology is integrated into its service, users who repeatedly try to upload unauthorized music will have their accounts deleted.
