Apple Computer announces Insomnia Film Festival

Apple Computer has announced the Insomnia Film Festival where they are inviting students to write, shoot, and edit a short film in just one day.

This festival would take place on November 10 and the interested film makers would be given 24 hours to turn a script into a movie.

Their movies would then be uploaded to the company’s website. This competition is open for student videomakers and filmmakers in the US attending an accredited college or university.

Apple would reveal the three elements that need to be combined into the movie’s story at 5pm Eastern time. And after that the film makers would have 24 hours to make out a movie on that subject.

These short movie clips would be made public by the company for rating. Apple has also roped in an expert panel, including actor-director Matthew Modine, Flying Karamazov Brothers founder Randy Nelson, documentary filmaker Jon Shenk, improvisational theatre teacher Rebecca Stockley, and Apple Distinguished Educator and professor of media arts and design John Woody.

Apple also requires that the participants use Apple Mac computer for processing the movie and upload it in QuickTime format with a maximum width of 400 pixels.

Two winners would get a copy of Final Cut Studio, a copy of Shake and an 80GB video iPod.
