Nokia partners with Stanford University
World’s largest mobile phone maker Nokia has established a research facility in Palo Alto and the company is also entering into a three-year collaborative effort with Stanford University.
Stanford is located just two miles from the research facility and they would be participating in joint research by offering new project-oriented courses on mobile computing and services.
They would also be using their own campus as an experimental testing ground for the new technologies developed by the two groups.
Bob Iannucci, senior vice president of the research center said in a statement that this partnership is just one of the many more coming up in the coming times.
Nokia interestingly had opened a similar research facility in Cambridge early this year and they went into collaboration with MIT.
Iannucci added on this new development: “What people expect of their phones is driving us very hard to innovate. The only way to do that is with collaboration and partnership.”
