Cellular Music Service from Cingular Wireless
US based mobile service provider Cingular Wireless has launched its mobile music store. The company is offering their subscribers the facility to download tunes from Yahoo or Napster.
Cingular also has a partnership with online store eMusic, which is owned by Dimensional Associates. It is the second most popular digital music store in the country.
Market analysts have said that the company is trying to be as open as possible with support for different formats of music. This is a good step as it would lure in a lot of music fans from competing services.
More and more mobile phones in the market are shipping with the ability of playing digital music. The popularity of iPod in the market has made MP3 compatible phones a popular standard. Apple itself is rumored to be working on an iPhone to take on these challengers to its iPod.
