NTP sues Treo maker Palm for patent infringement
NTP Inc. has said that they are now suing Palm Inc for patent infringement. The company had filed a similar lawsuit against blackberry maker Research in Motion in the past.
They have filed this latest lawsuit in U.S. District Court and are claiming that Palm’s products, services, systems and processes have improperly used NTP’s wireless e-mail technology.
They are asking the courts to bar Palm from “continuing to infringe on NTP’s patents” and are also seeking monetary damages.
RIM had to pay the company $612.5 million to settle their patent dispute. They just might gain another settlement deal here.
Their lawsuit against Palm focuses on products, services and systems that integrate e-mail systems with wireless communications. These include their products like Treo, Palm VII, Palm i700 and Tungsten.
