L.A. Times: General Motors working on an electric-car prototype
The Los Angeles Times has reported in a news item that world’s largest automaker General Motors is working on an electric car. But this new car under development won’t be an emissions-free vehicle.
LA Times said that this new car would be unveiled as a prototype early next year. It would be using an onboard internal-combustion engine as a generator to produce electricity.
This would produce the energy to recharge the batteries powering the cars extending the range of the car.
GM has not publicly talked about such a vehicle but sources confirm that GM had developed a prototype that would run initially on power provided by rechargeable lithium-ion batteries.
