Google aims for free mobile phones powered with targeted advertisement
Search engine giant Google wants people to have access to free mobile services powered with targeted advertising.
Google chief executive, Eric Schmidt said in a statement that they are aiming for a future where people would be able to use their mobiles for free if they accept to watch targeted forms of advertising.
He added that more and more people are getting addicted to some form of digital computing device ending up spending hours on it. This makes them a potential audience for targeted advertising.
Schmidt said in a statement to media group Reuters: “Your mobile phone should be free. It just makes sense that subsidies should increase”.
He further spoke about portability of user data stored on their servers: “We are working to ensure that as long as it is yours, we want to give you the equivalent of number portability.”
