Samsung expects DRAM demand to be strong in first quarter of 2007
South Korean tech giant Samsung has said in a statement that they expect strong demands for DRAM products in the first quarter of the next year.
This forecast is pretty logical considering Microsoft is due to launch the first major upgrade to their operating system product Vista in January. And Vista indeed has some hefty hardware requirements.
Computer makers have recommended that users get as much as 2GB RAM on their machines if they want to have a smooth experience running Vista on it.
In addition, some components in Vista also require a decent graphic card with sufficient video ram for best functionality.
All these factors would enhance the demand for DRAM products in the market early next year.
Samsung also said that they would sell more mobile phones in January-March than in the current quarter. They are also hoping big gains in their LCD business.
