Lycos Cinema: Lycos aiming to become a teen broadband video channel with chatting facility

Lycos used to be one of the most popular online portals in the 1990s. Times have changed and the company is struggling to compete against the likes of Yahoo!, Google and MSN.

Lycos is now aiming to reestablish itself in the market by presenting itself as a teen broadband video channel. It also aims to have an inbuilt text chat room to attract the teenagers to this service.

The service would be launching a high-speed Internet video channel this week and users would be able to watch them while discussing them with other users online.

This new service would be called Lycos Cinema and it aims to benefit from two of the most popular fads on the internet right now… video sharing and social networking.

Web users would be able to upload their own videos on the service starting next month.
