YouTube signs on a deal with National Hockey League
YouTube is the world’s most popular online video sharing website and they have now signed on a deal with the National Hockey League.
YouTube would now be showing short clips of National Hockey League games. This is their first agreement with a professional sports league.
YouTube added that users of their service would now be able to watch daily short-form video from the NHL for the 2006-2007 season starting this month.
The deal between them also would see YouTube remove illegally posted NHL clips on their service. In addition, they would be sharing revenue from advertising placed next to the content.
YouTube already has signed on similar deals with television networks CBS Corp., NBC Universal, and music companies Universal Music Group, Warner Music Group and Sony BMG.
